Terms and Conditions of Sale

Last Updated: October 2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before completing your purchase on Canterbury Woods Creations, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By completing a purchase and checking the acceptance box at checkout, you (“Customer,” “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Scope of Agreement

These Terms govern the purchase of all ready-to-ship inventory, home goods (such as cutting boards, serving boards, and home accessories), and furniture offered directly through our online store.

Custom commissions, bespoke builds, or personalized orders requiring design consultations, custom dimensions, or separate contracts are governed by independent commission agreements and are not covered by these self-service website checkout terms.

2. Natural Materials & Inherent Wood Characteristics

All items sold by Canterbury Woods Creations are handcrafted from genuine, solid hardwood and natural materials. By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept the following:

  • Natural Variation: Wood is an organic material. Grain structure, figure, coloration, sapwood, mineral streaks, and natural knot formations vary from board to board. Product photographs represent the design and build style, but exact grain configuration and tone will differ naturally.

  • Environmental Acclimation & Movement: Solid wood remains responsive to its ambient environment. Seasonal expansion, contraction, slight cupping, or hairline checking are natural responses to shifts in indoor relative humidity and temperature. These characteristics are inherent to real wood furniture and are not considered defects.

  • Recommended Climate: Furniture should be maintained in climate-controlled indoor environments with relative humidity levels between 35% and 55%. Placement near forced-air heat vents, radiators, damp basements, or in direct, continuous sunlight will void any warranty claim regarding wood movement or separation.

3. Proper Care and Maintenance

Customer agrees to adhere to the proper care guidelines supplied with the item or published on our website:

  • Cutting & Serving Boards: Do not soak boards in water, expose them to standing liquid, or place them in a dishwasher. Hand wash with mild soap, dry immediately, and oil regularly with food-grade mineral oil or board conditioner. Warping or splitting caused by excessive moisture exposure or dishwasher use voids all return or replacement options.

  • Furniture Surfaces: Use only damp microfiber cloths for routine cleaning. Do not use harsh chemical cleaners, ammonia, acetone, or abrasive scrubbers, as they will compromise the natural finish. Use coasters and trivets to protect surfaces from direct heat, standing liquid, and moisture condensation.

4. Order Processing, Payments, and Cancellations

  • Payment: Full payment is required at checkout to confirm your order. Orders are processed only upon successful payment verification.

  • Cancellations: Orders for ready-to-ship inventory or finished pieces may be cancelled within 24 hours of placement for a full refund, provided the item has not already been packaged, dispatched, or scheduled with a freight carrier. After 24 hours or once fulfillment begins, orders cannot be cancelled.

5. Shipping, Freight Delivery & Inspection Duties

  • Parcel Shipments (Cutting Boards, Small Goods): Standard parcel items ship via ground carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS). Shipping costs are calculated and collected directly at checkout. Risk of loss transfers to the Customer upon carrier delivery confirmation.
  • Freight & Furniture Shipments (Separate Billing):
    • Freight Billed Separately: Due to varying dimensions, weights, and destination logistics, freight delivery costs for furniture and oversized pieces are not included in the website checkout price.
    • Custom Freight Quote: After your order is placed, we will procure competitive freight quotes based on your delivery address and send a separate freight invoice. Alternatively, you may contact us prior to checkout for an accurate freight estimate.
    • Freight Payment & Order Hold: Furniture orders will not be crated, scheduled, or dispatched until the separate freight invoice is paid in full. If a customer declines the freight quote or fails to pay the freight invoice within fourteen (14) days, the furniture order will be cancelled subject to a 10% administrative restocking fee.
    • Delivery Logistics: Freight delivery is curbside/threshold unless white-glove inside delivery is explicitly quoted, paid for, and confirmed. You must ensure an adult is present to accept delivery and that the delivery address accommodates commercial freight carriers.
  • Inspection Upon Receipt (Critical):
    • You are required to inspect the exterior crate/packaging and the product immediately upon delivery.
    • If noticeable crate or parcel damage exists, take photographs and clearly note the damage on the carrier’s Bill of Lading (BOL) or delivery receipt before signing.
    • Any claim for shipping damage, transit loss, or defect must be submitted to us with clear photographic evidence within 48 hours of delivery. Failure to document damage on the carrier’s delivery paperwork or report it within 48 hours releases us from liability for carrier damage.

6. Return and Refund Policy

  • General Merchandise (Boards, Small Goods): Unused, unaltered items in their original condition may be returned within 14 days of delivery. The Customer is responsible for all return shipping costs and safe packaging. Refunds are issued to the original payment method, less original shipping expenses, upon inspection of the returned item.

  • Furniture Items: Pre-built furniture purchases are final sale. We do not accept returns for change of mind, improper fit through customer doorways/hallways, or natural grain/color preferences.

  • Unauthorized Alterations: Applying non-recommended stains, topcoats, oils, structural modifications, or hardware changes immediately renders the product non-returnable and voids all workmanship warranties.

7. Limited Craftsmanship Warranty

We guarantee our pre-built furniture and handmade goods against structural defects in joinery and craftsmanship for a period of one (1) year from the delivery date.

  • Exclusions: This warranty does not cover:

    1. Normal wear and tear, dents, surface scratches, or UV-related color changes.

    2. Damage caused by improper cleaning chemicals, lack of conditioning, water damage, or standing heat.

    3. Structural failure caused by dropping, mishandling, unauthorized modifications, or improper assembly.

    4. Movement, warping, or cracking caused by exposure to extreme humidity shifts (e.g., placement over heating registers or storage in unconditioned areas).

  • Remedy: For valid claims approved under this warranty, our sole obligation is to repair, replace, or issue a store credit for the affected item at our discretion.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Canterbury Woods Creations, LLC and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising from the purchase, delivery, or use of our products.

  • In all circumstances, our maximum aggregate liability arising out of or related to your purchase shall not exceed the total purchase price paid by you for the specific item giving rise to the claim.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising from your purchase shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be instituted exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Broome County, New York, and both parties consent to personal jurisdiction therein.
